The Massachusetts state director for the Humane Society will be giving a presentation on Effective Animal Advocacy (facebook event) at Loving Hut at 11am. Right afterwards, there will the monthly all-vegan buffet fundraiser at Loving Hut (also on facebook). The workshop is free, but if you stick around for the buffet it’s $10 and 10% of your check is donated to VegWorcester.

If you still haven’t had enough excitement, join Massachusetts Animal Rights Coalition at 2pm for an anti-fur protest at the Greendale Mall. Many of the members will be at the buffet, so you can likely carpool from there.

This summer we started by ordering 5000 copies of our 2011 Veg Dining Guide. Some awesome people pitched in to raise the money to get them printed. Here’s the good news, we already distributed all 5000 of them! We distributed all of them in only 3 months. 3 months! Last year we distributed 5000 copies over an entire year. So now we ordered 5000 more.

Based on feedback, we made a couple of small updates and ordered a new batch. The new edition fixed some small typos, updated our meeting place, and added some events listings.

Help us distribute them – Monday, Nov 21

The next step is to get these guides into the hands of Worcesterites. They aren’t doing any good sitting on a shelf. Want to volunteer to help hand them out? On Monday, November 21 at 9am a group of VegWorcester volunteers will be meeting at the Bean Counter on Highland street to do some leafleting at colleges. We’ll pick a couple of schools, break up into small teams and then spend a few  hours on campuses handing them out, along with some booklets from Vegan Outreach. After that we’ll restock our displays at the restaurants listed in the guide. We should be done by about 1pm.

On the second Saturday of every month, from noon-5pm, there’s a $10 vegan mock-meat bonanza at Loving Hut. This weekend, we’re celebrating 2 years of support from the restaurant. VegWorcester will present the restaurant with a certificate of appreciation and Loving Hut is promising some kind of surprise for the customers who come out to teh buffet this Saturday.

If you haven’t been to a Loving Hut buffet in a while, don’t miss this one.

Loving Hut Chandler’s monthly vegan buffet fundraiser is this weekend– Saturday, October 8th, from noon-5pm, 415 Chandler St. Worcester, MA. As always – ALL VEGAN! ALL TASTY! ALL YOU CAN EAT! Its only $10, and 10% of proceeds are donated to VegWorcester to support local events and outreach. This week, some members of VegWorcester will be attending the Ringling Circus Protest in Worcester from 1:00-3:30 at the DCU Center, so if you’re coming to the protest with us, join us afterwards also for the Loving Hut Buffet from 3:30-5:00pm.

Remember to always get a new plate (for health code reasons,) and please only take what you can eat! Plates of wasted delicious vegan food are a big no-no! Loving Hut always has new vegan items in the fridge, so go ahead and buy something to take home and try out your mad cookin skills. Don’t forget to grab your copy of the Worcester Veg-Dining Guide at the front door of Loving Hut too

Here’s a sneak peak at the new Summer 2011 edition of the Veg Dining Guide to Worcester. As you probably already know, we’re printing 5000 copies to hand out this summer. We’re fundraising now. I’m pumped that we’re so close to having a new print edition of this dining guide. We just need to raise about $200 more (donate here).

Below is the main page of the dining guide. There is also another page that includes upcoming events and a panel explaining 3 reasons to go vegan, but this should give you a good idea about what to expect.

We’ll also post a printable PDF after we send it to the printer.

We only have $205 left until we can send this to the printer. Check out our fundraising campaign on The Point if you can donate some money and help us get this guide printed.

VegWorcester will have a table at stART on the Street this year. We’ll have the usual free leaflets and stickers, but there’s more! To celebrate Like No Udder coming to Worcester, we’ve partnered with the owner to offer a  free topping to VegWorcester supporters. How do you get it? Just stop by the VegWorcester table at stART on the Street and pick up a sweet button. Pin that little guy on your lapel and walk over to the Like No Udder truck and get your free topping. (She’ll explain what’s fair game.) Super simple!

And A Bake Sale!

To celebrate our tremendous victory legalizing bake sales in the City of Worcester, we’re also going to have a little vegan bake sale at our stART table. A couple of rad volunteers are baking up a lot of goodies. Come pick up the cupcakes that you missed when the City shut down our last bake sale.
