Remember Sarah Palin’s Thanksgiving Massacre?

Remember last year when Palin did that post-election interview on a turkey farm? Just wanted to revisit that again this Thanksgiving.

Turkey farming and slaughter is brutal and violent, but I can’t help but laugh at Mrs Palin’s political ineptitude. Why would she think it was a good idea to give her interview on a turkey farm, in front of the killing station? In the background of the video, you can see a confused farm-worker stuffing birds into a cone and slitting their throats. While Palin gives a mundane interview only feet away, the birds struggle to escape from slowly bleeding to death. Here is a youtube video of the interview:

It is important to point out that most turkey farms are actually nothing like this. Despite the obvious cruelty in the video, the farm where this video was taken would probably find itself on the “less-cruel” end of the spectrum. Most turkey farms are far larger, far more mechanized, and much more cruel. If you’re not convinced, you can watch the recent investigation into one of butterball’s factory-farms (be warned, it is graphic).

Hope you’re having a yummy Tofurky Day today. Remember, if you don’t have other plans, come by Stephen and Megan’s house today at 1:30pm for a vegan Thanksgiving potluck.
