Worcester Protests Animal Abuse at Ringling Brothers [Photos]

QUICK UPDATE: Charlene, the co-founder and organizer of Pet Rock, just posted a great blog post reflecting on the demonstration at the DCU center.

Today Worcester animal activists gave out flyers about Ringling Brother’s history of animal abuse and encouraged people to boycott the circus. I wish one of those animal-free circuses came to Worcester every year. You know, like Cirque du Soleil. I love acrobats.

If you’re bummed that you missed out, people will be out there again Friday evening at 6pm. Signs and leaflets provided. Thanks, Melisa, John, Tammi, Charlene, Kate and everyone else for pulling this together!

I am a terrible photographer, but apparently Charlene is pretty good.

Check out her photos of the circus demonstration.

Circuses are certainly cruel to animals, but don’t forget that the meat industry is by far the biggest source of animal abuse on the face of the planet. Remember: on Saturday VegWorcester is having a vegan feed-in at the McDonald’s on Main Street. Plus Buddha Hut is having the monthly buffet this Saturday too! Sweet!
