This ain’t no April Fools prank.

Frances Moore Lappe is speaking at Clark at 7pm on April 2, 2009, which is tomorrow. She’s a world-renowned democracy activist and author of over 16 books, including the bestseller, Diet for a Small Planet.
Thursday, April 2nd, 7:00 PM
Tilton Hall, Higgins University Center
Clark University
What’s she talking about?
She will speak about food justice, sustainability and what she calls “living democracy,” which means infusing the power of citizens’ voices and values throughout our public lives and removing the power of money from governance.
Afterwards, she will be available for book signing and will be selling her latest book, Getting a Grip: Clarity, Creativity and Courage in a World Gone Mad.
Who is she?
Her bestseller in 1971, Diet for a Small Planet, revolutionized the way people think about their food. It advocated for vegetarianism, not just for animal liberation but for social justice reasons. She is the co-founder of three organizations, including Food First: The Institute for Food and Development Policy and The Small Planet Institute, which she leads with her daughter, Anna Lappe. In 1987 she received the Right Livelihood Award. Her latest book, Getting a Grip, was awarded the Nautilus Gold/”Best in Small Press” award.
