Heather Mills Buys Out Quaint Fish & Chips Restaurant, Makes it Vegan

Posted by .

Celebrity (and vegan) Heather Mills recently purchased a sea-side fish and chips joint located in the UK and plans to reopen it as an all-vegan cafe. She used to eat there with her ex-husband, Paul McCartney. They always wished that the quaint restaurant would have more vegan options. “They’d have veggie breakfasts and soya milk tea,” says the café’s former owner Nick Short. “Heather said she’d like to buy the place if it came on the market.” So she did.

In Worcester I don’t think we’re going to see some rich celebrity buy The Sole Proprietor and turn it into a vegan restaurant, but we have seen our local restaurants responding to the growing demand for vegan food. Nancy Chang’s recently added an entire vegan menu. In the past year we’ve seen three new vegan businesses open up in Worcester and expand: Buddha Hut, Barely Legal Treats, and Belmont Veg. There’s some kind of vegan-renaissance happening in Worcester these days.

Nancy Changs didn’t really add a vegan menu, they just sort of compiled all of their vegan items into one convenient list. Still awesome, but the same food has been there for years. I really want to go eat there right now.
